Past:
The C.A.R.E. Center was started through
collaboration between the Warren and
Washington County District Attorney’s
Office. The Warren Washington CARE
Center was developed through the
already existing Warren Washington Counties
Child Fatality Review Team in 2003. The
multidisciplinary teams that were formed for
the CFRT unified to coordinate their efforts
to form the MDT of the CARE Center. The
CARE Center multidisciplinary team has met
on a monthly basis to review cases of child
sexual and physical abuse and to coordinate
affective investigation, prosecution and
victim services since this time. It is
believed that education and outreach to
adult professional and volunteers who work
with children will further increase the
safety of children in the region.
The Warren Washington
CARE Center received a start up grant from
the New York State Office of Children and
Family Services.
This grant funding was
used to secure the previous location of the
CARE Center at 1 Division St. in downtown
Glens Falls. Funding was also used to hire
an Executive Director to facilitate the
project. After months of hard work and
dedication by the Board of Directors and the
Multidisciplinary Team in a renovation
project the Center was able to open its
doors. On July 11, 2005 the Warren
Washington CARE Center had its Grand
Opening. Since this time the CARE Center
has provided services to numerous child
victims of sexual and physical abuse and
their non-offending family members.
The CARE Center functioned
under the umbrella of the Warren County
District Attorney’s Office. The CARE Center
has an active Board of Directors who are
committed to the mission of the CARE
Center. The Multidisciplinary Team of
professionals are dedicated to the Center
and meet monthly.
Present:
Currently, the Warren Washington C.A.R.E. Center is located at 24 Dix Avenue in Glens Falls. The Center is no longer under the umbrella agency of the Warren County District Attorney's Office. As of October, 2008 the C.A.R.E. Center is a free standing, not-for-profit agency. The center maintains an active Board of Directors and Multidisciplinary Team.
As of December, 2009 the C.A.R.E. Center added a medical component which allows medical exams to be conducted at the center. This component further reduces trauma to child victims and their non-offending family members.
