The CARE Center
provides coordinated and comprehensive
services in a child-friendly environment.
Coordinated
Child-Friendly Interviewing: All
professional are trained in conducting
forensic child friendly interviews. All
forensic interviews are coordinated with the
multidisciplinary investigative team.
Information/Referrals: Parents
are provided with helpful, comprehensive
information and referral for their children
and family by trained professionals from the
multidisciplinary team.
Advocacy:
The family is offered advocacy to help
navigate new and unfamiliar systems. An
advocate or victim specialist is able to
meet with the child victim and non-offending
family members on site. Families are
provided information on NYS crime victims
compensation program.
Crisis
Intervention: Child victims and
their families are offered short term crisis
counseling services. Child victims and their
non-offending family members are provided
referral information for long term mental
health treatment through multidisciplinary
team agencies.
Education:
Child victims and family members are offered
helpful education materials on child abuse.
The CARE Center offers parents a Parent
Information Packet with helpful materials to
assist during the aftermath of an abuse
disclosure.
Community
Presentations and Awareness:
Center staff are available for presentations
within the community on topics related to
child abuse and the Child Advocacy Center
Model.
All services are free of charge.
