Mandated Reporter Training
Knowledge is key to protecting children. We offer training sessions led by professionals who share their insights on critical topics such as:
- The benefits of child advocacy centers: Explore how these centers like ours provide a safe, supportive space for children during investigations and connect families with essential resources.
- How to recognize signs of child abuse and unsafe situations: Understand the red flags that may indicate that a child is at risk and what steps you can take to help protect them.
- The role of mandated reporters: Discover how individuals in vital roles, like teachers, healthcare providers, and community leaders, can act to keep children safe.
- What happens after a report is made: Learn about the investigative process that follows a report and how different agencies work together to determine the child’s immediate safety.
The panel of experts includes representatives from Child Protective Services, Law Enforcement, the District Attorney’s Office, Victim Advocacy, and the Warren Washington CARE Center. This training is 90 minutes long and can be completed virtually or in person.
High Five! Child Abuse Prevention Program
High Five! is a child abuse prevention program developed by the McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center for Kindergarten through 5th grade students. This engaging, school-based curriculum empowers young children to recognize unsafe situations and respond by seeking help from trusted adults.
Launched in 2008 through collaboration with educators, community members, and CAC staff, High Five! was created to meet the growing need for child safety education.
Backed by current research and aligned with both state and national standards, High Five! meets New York State’s Erin’s Law mandate for child abuse prevention education in elementary grades.
The C.A.R.E. Center offers High Five! K-2 and High Five! 3-5 for any interested schools in Warren or Washington County.
